Poetry & Projections - This Saturday
On Saturday I will be "reading" a poem with a projection at Happy Ending as a part of the last phase of Lit Crawl NYC. The reading starts at 8:15 and will feature poets reading with projections. Reading will be Dolan Morgan, Randall Horton, Erika Moya, and this guy. It's going to be a party, with poems. Also, it's the last night of Happy Endings before they close, which sucks, but you should come and enjoy one last night there. Ok. Dustin out.

Ashleigh the Hyperbolic Goat
Here it is, the adventures of a stick boy and his hyperbolic stick goat. Actually, they don't so much have adventures as stand still and talk. But, you know, it's a goat and a boy talking. So that's good.
I made this little zine. You can get issue #1 (that sounds like it's a thing....it's probably not) for $2 here. Or you can mention it to me when you see me and I'll just give you one.
It's called Ashleigh the Hyperbolic Goat. This is an image from one of the pages. That's all.
Oh, and a made a home for it on Tumblr, in case I decide to do more. I won't, but, you know, what if I do? It's HyperbolicGoat.Tumblr.com.

Everything Oz
I've got a poem up over at Voicemail Poems called "Everything Oz." A different version of this poem appeared over at H_NGM_N a while back. I've updated it and it's that version exists as audio on an answering machine now.
That doesn't really have anything to do with James Franco or the Wizard of Oz I guess, but, you know, pictures!
That's all for now. Back to being a dad. (This change has not made me start to like Wilco.)

Upcoming Readings
I've got a few readings coming up and I thought I'd say them all as fast I can in a single breath. Ok. Inhale.
On July 25th I'm reading at the Five [Quarterly] First Birthday Party. I've got a poem in their upcoming issue (and was a finalist for their chapbook prize) and this'll be a good time. It starts at 7pm at 61 Local in Brooklyn.
Then I'll be reading (again with 5/Q) on July 27th at the New York Poetry Festival at 2:40pm. Also, good times. (And Ashleigh is going to be reading with the COUPLET Reading Series on Sunday.)
And on August 3rd I'm reading as a part of a marathon reading of Stanislaw Lem's Solaris, put together by the Atlas Review and the Marina Abromovic Institute. This goes from 2:30-10:30pm.

Freeloaders Fine
Wednesday night I'll be reading at Molasses Books in Bushwick with John Reed and Leah Umansky. The best part? (Beside John & Leah...) Free drinks. There will probably be free drinks all night.
Here's the deal. This is the first time Molasses is trying this out. There's an open bar tab for the night. We add value to the open bar by donating books to Molasses Books. Every book you bring in means a little more money is added to our collective bar tab. And I have got a boatload of books. (Just slightly less than a buttload.) It should be fun. Everyone is reading something based on other books. (You know, because books!) I'm going to try out a new longer poem. How about that?
The reading starts at 8pm.
More info on Facebook.
And Ashleigh is reading at The Book Report tonight (Tuesday). She'll be attempting to hypnotize the audience. That's not a metaphor. That's at 7pm at Le Poisson Rouge.
More info on Facebook.
And on Friday, I've got a new work in the Loft 594 gallery for the installation "The Asshole in the Gallery." I'm doing a projections and poetry piece called Bits, Collected. It's a lomo projection with a poem and some notecards. We could have a drink there too if you'd like. That starts around 6.
More info on Facebook.

Geocachers w/ Dave Hill and John & Molly Knefel
We got to do an episode of Geocachers with some of the folks I like the most in New York. Dave Hill, who made a couple appearances on Radio Happy Hour, took Sam to Hamlet's Vintage (next to LPR and has some really cool stuff) and dressed him like a madman. Then we went geocaching with John and Molly Knefel in Washington Square Park. If you don't listen to their show The Radio Dispatch you should. They do it live once a month at The Gallery at LPR too. Ok. That's all.

Set the Dial to Implode
This was the best photo I could find, without trying very hard, of the world exploding. If you Google "world explodes" all of the images are much more serious than you might expect. In retrospect, of course they are, but I expected Google to have the same point of view I do about the world exploding: what can you do?
Google is very serious about the world exploding.
All that's for nothing because all I really wanted to say is I have two poems up in the new issue of Out of Nothing, one of which is called "Turn the Dial to Implode and Enter the World." I wanted to have a picture of the world exploding because of that poem, but that doesn't really make much sense. If the world explodes then it did the opposite of what would happen if you set the dial to implode. Unless the machine that the dial was attached to was broken and did the opposite of what it was told. And then again I think implode and explode, as it pertains to the world, may only be opposite grammatically or theoretically. In both cases I think the world ends, so maybe the opposite of exploding is "everything stay put." Also, I don't think you can enter the world once it explodes. I'm not even sure you can "enter the world" at all, since you're already in it. Unless you're a spaceman. Then you could. Because you would have exited the world. You have to exit the world before you can enter it, if you're born in it.
Just one man's opinion.
Anyhow, new issue of Out of Nothing is up, and it's very beautifully designed.

Get Behind the Wheel Annie
I've got a new poem over at Pismire Poetry (where I read the poem into an answering machine). It's from a series of poems about the movie Speed that I wrote on a plane, all while watching Speed. It's also about pacing and speed of life, but it's mostly about Speed the movie and this android guy in the picture.

I've got a couple of video poems or poem videos or pomes or a film video up at SCUD.
SCUD is menacing and terrifying and damn good.

Geocachers, Geocachers, Geocachers!
It's like Beetlejuice, if you say it three times it becomes real. Or in the case of the movie, it becomes not miniature? I remember Beetlejuice differently than that video tells me is true.
Anyhow, there are two new Geocachers videos up. One is a performance from School of Seven Bells and one is a little geocaching in the East Village with Meghan McCain. Sam and McCain make sweet buns with Jane from Jane's Sweet Buns too. [Insert joke between the buns here.]
